he selected candidate will support customer projects in the deployment of voice, data, and/or video infrastructure technology.

Job Description:

As a Test Engineer you will be responsible for supporting our Voice Networks team in testing signalling and communications on modems and mobile devices for Techworks and our customers. The work location is on-site at one of our national operator customers in Toronto.

Tasks include:

  • Executing test scripts and reporting results
  • Decoding hex codes to identify signaling formats
  • Reviewing network logs to identify deficiency areas
  • Performing network analysis using Wireshark and/or other tools
  • Testing bands on devices to determine if they are working as specified
  • Tracking issues from identification to resolution
  • Log and help resolve defects
  • May be required to create test plans and test cases while adhering to documentation standards provided
  • Respect Techwork’s technology delivery practices, standards and project management disciplines.

Position Challenges:

  • This is an autonomous role where you will be required to complete your assignments with minimal instruction on daily work tasks and a moderate level of instruction on new assignments..
  • Work within tight schedules with the ability to multi-task, identify priorities, and stay on track.

Qualifications (Experience & Competencies):

Experience:

  • 3-5 years relevant experience in functional and technical testing.
  • Must have basic understanding of how radio frequency and radio signaling works.
  • Must have understanding of LTE features.
  • Must have deep knowledge of Internet and mobile technologies
  • Must have device testing experience
  • Ability to create test documentation with minimal supervision including test plans and test cases
  • Understanding of modems at the chipset level an asset.
  • Network engineering and video mobile engineering knowledge an asset.
  • Understanding of network core an asset.
  • Understanding of Radio Access Networks (RAN) an asset.
  • Good understanding of general networking principles, domains, internet protocols and different web browsers
  • Previous experience in working with JIRA or similar defect tracking system.

Soft Skills:

  • Passion for Quality Assurance with a solid work ethic and team player attitude
  • Goal oriented self-starter who can work independently as well as in a team environment with minimal supervision and has an interest for continuous learning
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills in a client-services environment are important to this role
  • Ability to effectively communicate information, both verbally and written to all members of a project team
  • Ability to work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment

  • Ruby Framework
  • AWS Device Farm
  • Microsoft TFS
  • WireShark
  • Selenium
  • Python
  • other mobile automation testing frameworks/tools.

Education & Certifications

  • University Degree in Business, Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related fields.
  • Relevant Work Experience
